🇬🇷BEST GREEK PIZZA ALERT🇬🇷 Established in 1970, Zois is coming up on 55 years in the business, serving one of the best light & airy Greek pan pizzas in Connecticut. Though the pie looks heavy, it’s actually not weighty at all. Firm & smooth underneath, unlike the typically spongy undercarriages of generic Greek pizzas, this pie is steady & sturdy with moderate crisp. Despite the mild amount of char, the pizza is well done & cooked thoroughly with a somewhat soft body of dough, highlighted by a beautifully buttery, flaky & deliciously crunchy crust. Better than the usual bland flavor typical of generic Greek pizza dough, this pie packs tremendous taste & the texture to match. With a magnificently melty consistency & flow, the cheese is molten lava hot, fresh out of the oven, well done & rigid in some areas, while incredibly creamy in other spots, despite some burn bubbles & modest char. A tasty & flavorful mozzarella mixture, this cheese blend is much better than the average Greek pizza cheese. The sauce is where this pie really separates itself from run-of-the-mill Greek pizza sauce, which is usually super tangy, stinging & acidic. This is a much smoother & friendlier tomato sauce blend, possessing a substantial amount of sweetness to go along with terrific zest & zing, as well as some zip from the seasoning & spices that really makes this sauce sing, bursting with fantastic flavor. Shockingly tasty overall, this pie bucks the trend of subpar Greek pizza in CT. I’ve never been a huge fan of this style but this is easily one of the best Greek pies I’ve ever had. Not something I’d go out of my way for, so I can’t label this pie travel-worthy pizza; but if you’re a fan of Greek pies, this is well worth a try. Opa!
