Pizza Review
Really light, airy crust, natural tomato tasting sauce, almost went back for a second slice, but was saving room for Romano's, which was unfortunate. Should've gotten another from here… Generally, I think Mario's is the best wood fired spot in Mahopac, but they're not a slice joint. I think this is where I'd go for New York style pizza. It's not gonna blow your socks off. But I felt it was a bit better than every other place here. Why? I felt the sauce and cheese where better balanced than the other spots and a tad more flavorful. It's nicely medium chunky with a good tomato flavor that was neither tart nor naturally sweet. It had a nice dark brown and black bake on the bottom and airy chew. The oven looked pretty old, something I forgot to also mention about Benevenuto's I. This is just abovr Dante's as my go-to plain slice Mahopac spot. Specialty slices looked solid too. I had a bite of that fresh mozzarella, balsamic glaze slice. But I'd probably go to Benevenuto for them.
