Pizza Review
🌉BEST OF BROOKLYN ALERT🌉 💎HIDDEN GEM ALERT💎 Established in 1982, Ciccio’s is known for adding sesame seeds to their crust & their signature Sophia Loren Pie, which is similar to Margherita style with fresh mozzarella & tomatoes. Thankfully, there were no sesame seeds on my crust, as I prefer the plain, tasty, charred & crunchy consistency without the seeds. Doughy, with thick cheese & substantial sauce, this is super filling, heavy & hearty Brooklyn football pizza. The box weighs a ton with each slice acting as a full meal, each equivalent to a loaf of bread. The dough is plenty tasty but disappointingly flimsy & floppy; despite a blackened undercarriage with quality char, it lacks firmness & crisp, weighed down by the generous volume of cheese & sauce. The seedless crust has phenomenal flavor & exquisite crunch, compensating nicely for the soft & spineless dough. The moderate grease flow is a non-factor when it comes to the taste of the cheese & sauce thanks to the substantial amount of each. Outstandingly delectable, the shredded mozzarella blend is melty, creamy, extra cheesy & abundant. Slightly chaotically sliding off each slice due to the excess amount, the mozz has a brilliant taste & consistency, despite the heavy dosage. The star of the pie is the sauce. Super sweet, richly red & robust, thick & hearty, well-seasoned & fresh-tasting, the sauce is a simply sublime tomato blend. Bursting with fantastic flavor, the sauce packs punch & pizzazz, zest & zip, shining, singing & carrying this pizza past the shortcomings of the crispless texture. Overall, this is travel-worthy, reasonably priced, blue collar Brooklyn pizza; a hidden gem, tucked away in Gravesend, with a taste that trumps its texture. A firmer & crispier pie would waltz into the Hall of Fame 9s. As it stands, this is incredibly delicious, reliable, no-nonsense BK football pizza that will satisfy the greatest hunger.
