Pizza Review
Pretty underwhelming, especially considering the 8.0 score. I first tried the roni and the three cheese, and was especially disappointed with those two. The Center of my cheese slice was flop city, and the roni wasn’t great either. The cheese is very sharp and funky, so take notes if that is/isn’t your cup of tea. The sauce is great, but it really gets drowned out by the cheese on any slice which uses the three cheese blend. Something I liked is that they forego the traditional thin round pepperoni for a cool thicker salami (I think it’s Italian calabrese), which I really like, and wish more pizza places adopted. After the floppy crust and funky cheese (which I personally didn’t like) on the first two, I thought I’d give the margherita a shot. Sure enough, both problems were solved. The sauce could shine through, and the fresh mozz was more my speed. Still, the crust was nothing fantastic, and the crust wasn’t crunchy or particularly flavourful by any measure. The vibe is a bit campy, (but in a good way), and the place has a cool bar. Some real dough tossing Sicilians behind the counter definitely add to the experience too. Overall, I think there’s better pizza to be found nearby, but it’s not bad by any stretch. Could recommend this place to someone who doesn’t prioritize crunch super highly, and is into a cheese blend on the funkier end of the spectrum.
