Pizza Review
🗽BEST NEW YORK STYLE ALERT🗽 Opened in 2014 & moved to its current location in the summer of 2017 by owner & World Pizza Champions Vice President, Michael Androw, who named this takeout only pizzeria after his sons Enzo & Dario. Despite the countless imitation New Haven style pizza in the area, they serve thinnish & firm New York style pies. Sturdy & structurally sound, the dough is tasty with a floury undercarriage, keeping the pie dry but void char, along with a crispy & crunchy crust that’s also well done but not blackened. Clearly a quality shredded mozzarella blend, the cheese is deliciously melty with terrific taste & consistency. Just a touch of grease hiding within the mozz is more than manageable, not impeding the flavor or flow. Simple & sweet, the sauce is subtly savory but lacks pop. Short on seasoning & spice, the sauce rides the flavor of the tomatoes, basil & a smidge of oregano, but is missing zing & zest, delicious nonetheless. All in all, this is very good pizza, about the closest you’ll find to NY style in this part of Connecticut, which is mostly filled with imitation New Haven pies. I thoroughly enjoyed the taste, texture & simplicity of this pizza. All of the ingredients pull their own weight & work together in wonderful harmony. I’d prefer a moderately more crispy body of the dough & a little more zip on the sauce; but this is travel-worthy pizza as it stands. In the land of coal-fired New Haven style pies, this is quality New York style pizza in the Constitution State.
