Famous Ray's Pizza of New York

Good undercarriage with a healthy amount of flop. Cheese is excellent.

Thickness - This was a very thick and dense slice. Crispy - The crust had some crisp, but the rest…. Not so much Flop - Very nice flop on the flip. Folded very nicely and the cheese stayed put. Cheese and Oil Laevel - A lot of cheese and a lot of oil! Just how I like my pizza! Sauce (Sweet or Tangy) - Sweet sauce with a flavorful kick. Would I Come Back? - Yes I would come back next time I am in the area. Really good slice!

Plan slice is your typical Jersey slice. Soft, nice flavor and right amount of cheese. Barbecue slice was nothing special. I like this pizza. Not a well done bar pie if that’s what you’re expecting.

Easily above an 8. I've gone here a dozen times and it has a reliably solid undercarriage. The flavor is a bit underwhelming however. What you really ought to go here for is the garlic knots. If I were rating the garlic knots alone I'd say 9.6. I have searched far and wide and these are the best garlic knots I have found. They are incredibly buttery but still slightly crisp on the outside and never dry. They could stand to have more garlic, but there is plenty of parmesan and the sauce is great and free.

At first glance it looks unreal. Taste just isn’t there. Good cheese, tangy sauce. Still a decent pizza overall.

Back in the days of old ownership (the guy who's pictures are on the wall) this place along with Star Tavern were my 2 favorite places in the area. Nowadays it's not quite the same but still good, and the staff is much friendlier. The old place reminded me of the soup nazi from seinfeld.

This place just can’t possibly be Famous because of this plain slice. But... try the Grandma Squares... they’re near 8 Land! Great tomatoes taste and no garlic overload.

Very standard plain slice, not outstanding but nothing bad at all. Nice thickness and good cheese and sauce ratio.
