Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana

We were in town and ordered from this place on a whim. No expectations and at first didn’t think much of it… but then we just kept digging in. And digging in. And digging in. 2 weeks later we found ourselves talking about how much we liked the place. Then and only then we googled it. Saw the northern connections etc. 7.8 … good pie that even weeks later had me wanting another slice.

Extreme wolf known pedigree alert Eye test- whatever Ratio - poor, lacks sauce, profoundly Execution- fair at best. Asked for low char intentionally. They listened. Why someone likes this is beyond me. Sauce - stellar when you can find any Cheese - nothing special Dough - stellar. On dough only bites it’s something special. Ingredients obviously unreal, let alone the execution. Maybe a tad chewy towards the middle. Overall, when you consider how good the positives are, the negatives really crush this. FYI, went low char because my buddy doesn’t know from New Haven style…he would have had a stroke. Having had a true tomato pie classic in New Haven, it was not imperative we do the classic Schubert said, “Lieder requires so much consideration, I often fear writing them.” They have certainly pulled off recreating New Haven. But a tomato pie with Mozz should not be this whacked out. The sauce went on some other pie.

I ordered two of them, a large pepperoni and a large cheese. They were terrible. The taste no taste. The pizza is consistency. Was that of a wet noodle? I will never buy from these people again. It was the worst pizza I’ve ever had at anywhere in South Florida.

Really good flavors. The cheese pizza was a little floppy. Cheese: 8.2, Tomato Pie: 8.4, White Clam: 8.6

I am from New Haven, this isn’t your grandpa’s Frank Pepe. El Presidente would not have gotten into the sevens for tasteless and floppy

Great tasting pizza. Sauce, cheese and dough cooked well. The grease is the main villain in this pie. Too oily.

Crisp, good char, great pepperoni, tangy sauce. A step below the New Haven mothership.

Really good New Haven style!! Thin and crispy

We tried a few different pizzas when we went. When it was good, it was very good. Unfortunately, the pizza thickness was very inconsistent and some spots would be for doughy and undercooked. Not sure I’ll go back. Definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to try. We’re going to New Haven next month so I’ll have a good comparison to the real thing.

Did the 1/2 and 1/2 with Fresh Tomato and Margherita. Both were very good on the outside but the pie wasn’t cooked all the way through and the center was cold and doughy. Unfortunately, that really brought down my overall score. Nice place but needs to have the oven more consistently heated.

Pizza was cooked perfectly. Perfect crunch. I love the cheese. Only complaint is the sauce is basic. Did not have any flavor.

Crust is a bit thicker than New Haven. Great pizza for a Florida spot. Same oven, same everything. Oven still fresh, needs to be broken in a bit to get more flavor out of it.
