Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana

Another New Haven staple, great pizza but I have to say Sally’s is a little bit better and I think it’s the fact that Sally’s has more tomato sauce. This pizza is very cheesy and greasy and good but could use a smidge more sauce.

Good, was expecting a little thinner.

Good but overhyped and kind of disappointing

I ranked my New Haven pizza trip Pepe’s > Modern > Sally’s, which I thought would be the opposite. Pepe’s to me was probably the most unique wheel I’ve ever had. Light, thin, crispy, sweet sauce, sharp cheese, and I like the little oil they drizzle on. Had half plain, half pepperoni & hot red peppers. Ate out of the box at the nearby park with my pals. A great moment.

Great crust, good cheese and pepperoni but sauce was lacking in flavor.

Really close score to Sally's, Sally's won only because it seemed more unique than what I'm used to.

Excellent pizza, crisp crust, great flavor.

Solid pizza - a little overhyped. Crispy - good firm bite. Cheese a little heavy and lacking some sauce. Love the history of the place and the classic uniqueness of the establishment.

Outstanding. Definitely not on the Sally’s or Modern level but better than the Mohegan Sun Pepe’s. A little too much dough, flop & grease for my liking but the flavor is amazing. Great cheese, tasty sauce. Apizza!

Incredible sauce with a crispy crust - one of the best pies in New Haven for good reason!

Crust is burnt, but somehow not very crispy. Was expecting a lot more flavor. Decent slice, but not up to the hype.

Not quite on Sally’s level but still a very solid pie

CONSUMED Deserves portnoys 8.5, absolutely fantastic bread with a nice char, great sauce with nice tasting tomatos, cheese was really good and melted fully as well. Only issue was it’s a bit floppy

This is a special pie. Everything about it was just excellent. Crisp,char, and crunch were amazing. Sauce and cheese right on as well. I can see why this place has been open since 1925 I’d very easily take the drive from NY any given weekend.
