Pizza Review
In Chicago for a few days, so obviously I had to try deep dish pizza for the first time, and unfortunately I’m not too crazy about it. This place is widely regarded as one of the better deep dish spots in Chicago, and I believe that it probably is. With that being said, this style of pizza just doesn’t really do it for me. There’s just way too much of everything. There is so much cheese inside of each slice that it makes the slice unappetizing, and the crust is a massive chunk of boring-tasting bread that hasn’t been cooked long enough.
Pizza Review
So you’re in Chicago, and you’ve decided to see what all this deep-dish fuss is about. This is the place. They don’t flirt with moderation here. They bury you under an avalanche of molten cheese, thick dough and enough tomato sauce to make an Italian grandmother raise an eyebrow. Let’s get one thing straight: if your idea of pizza begins and ends with a charred, paper-thin New York slice folded in half on a sidewalk, this probably isn’t for you. You may not even consider it pizza. That’s fine. More for the rest of us. Because this isn’t trying to be New York. It’s something entirely different. It’s excessive. Unapologetic. Almost absurd. Will it sit in your stomach like a bowling ball? Absolutely. Will you spend a brief moment wondering if you’ve made a terrible life decision? Probably. But the best meals rarely come from restraint. They come from curiosity, indulgence and the occasional lapse in judgment. Halfway through, you’ll find yourself asking impossible questions. How many cows volunteered for this? How many gallons of milk became this glorious mountain of cheese? Why does this somehow keep getting better with every bite? By the end, you won’t have had the best pizza you’ve ever eaten. You’ll have had an experience. And in a world where so much food is engineered to be familiar, predictable and safe, there’s something deeply satisfying about eating something that dares to be completely, unapologetically itself. That’s worth remembering long after the last slice is gone.
