Ok Frankie here we go with the long running PA/Delaware staple called Grotto's Pizza. Expensive, little flop, dough looks undercooked. One bite everybody knows the rules. Ahhh Frankie, heavy undercooked cheese, spaghetti sauce flavored. Chewy. I'm not feelin' it Frankie. Joe the owner/CEO got his name up on the local college's culinary dept. So this should be good pizza. Wrong. Looks like Joe doesn't make the pizzas anymore. This is horrible Frankie especially since this place has a good reputation. Dough tastes raw. 1.6 Frankie and that's a generous score.

I’m realizing a trend with this area, the best pizzas like Sabs and Angelos all have this style. The crust is on the thinner side but not too thin, the sauce is spiraled on top keeping the cheese and everything from drying out, great flavor. Coin flip on the extra sauce, at first it seemed to sloppy and unnecessary since the regular isn’t dry and well balanced, but as it cooled down started to lean x-sauce bc it’s delish, depends on your mood. I hear they have a sweet sauce too, worth testing next time. I can’t remember what grotto was like back in the steamtown mall days but if it was like this, no idea why they ever left… very impressed.

No flop. Crisp crunch. I enjoy the sauce a lot but it’s also a pizza I can’t decide if I like or it’s just whatever. Always has been.
