For some reason, this Mack’s Pizza at 4200 Boardwalk has way more reviews and higher scores than the original Mack’s located at 3218 Boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ, which I reviewed previously. Nonetheless, it’s virtually the same slightly above average pizza. The only difference between the pies I ordered was this one had a bit more grease gushing with every bite. Other than that, same thin, floppy, soft, somewhat soggy dough. Same cheese blend that tastes like mozzarella mixed with cheddar. And same tangy, bitter, oregano-flavored sauce that lacks sweetness. Both locations are packed in the summer all hours of the day. Can’t call in an order, so be prepared to wait a minimum of 20 minutes on most days. Decent pizza for the Jersey Shore boardwalk, but not legendary. Nevertheless, Anthony Mackrone’s true legacy lives on in the amount of money his pizzerias rake in every summer from the “Bennys” and “Phillies” that remain loyal customers from Memorial Day to Labor Day in Wildwood, NJ.
