Monte's Fine Foods

Decided to pop into Monte's after watching Prez review it. If you're a local and enjoy cooking with or eating fresh, and interesting Italian products, you can't beat this spot! I spotted dozens of products I’d go back to give a shot. Ok, the pizza! In addition to the provided photo, I also got a traditional pepperoni. The 8.3 applies to the pictured pie and l'd give the pepperoni a 7.9! The sausage ricotta pie was incredible! Roman style pizza, which I'm a big fan of (New haven is my favorite style) and the crust is fantastic! Full of flavor, crispy undercarriage with a nice layer of softness, showing off amazing Roman style techniques. In place of sauce was ricotta and I LOVED this! I've never had a pie commit to ricotta so hard and honestly, more places should try this! Super flavorful with a nice texture. The splashes of fresh sauce were very welcome and had a beautiful flavor! The green drizzle was fantastic as well! Honestly, I would ask for this on the side every time I ordered pizza here haha! The sausage was flavorful and they did not skimp on it, which is always a plus! This might be my favorite spot in Portland! It's absolutely worth a visit! The website recommends calling ahead, which is what I did and found the pizza was ready exactly at the time I requested!

Super crust, very crispy. A touchy saucy but not unpleasant. Provolone was an interesting choice as a cheese addition, gave it a little tang but probably would have just gone full mozzarella. Definitely an artisanal pie, and at $22 for a 14”, while yummy, probably wouldn’t be my regular go-to pizza, but it’s a nice treat.

I’ve been home for about a week from Maine and I cannot stop thinking about this place. This is the best pizza I’ve had in my life, crispy but not ultra paper thin which is perfect. Absolutely perfect in every way. Please check this place out.

Awesome pizza & atmosphere! Tried the cheese & pepperoni & both were cooked to perfection. All ingredients were super fresh. Staff were very friendly as well.

Not bad, when have you had a good piece lately? 8.2, no prosciutto in house… fine foods.

Crust is perfect, sauce is good the cheese is really bland. The pepperoni is the only reason it’s above a 7.

Excellent pizza. The sauce is very tomatoey and thick. The crust is crispy. Undercarriage is legit. You can tell the ingredients are top notch. A tad greasy. Excellent Roman style pizza

No flop. Great, fresh taste. Crust had a good crisp! Cheeses were perfect. Hard to fault. Maybe it could have been a little more cooked / darker if I was trying to find a fault.

Yep, AuDinn knows the rules. Drove all the way to Portland for this 🙂 well worth the drive but only took 45 minutes to confirm Montes was the go to. Not every restaurant has fucking chicken fingers for autism family. I explained that I never get to pick and I left out but fuck me and my appetite 🙂it only took the explaining that Dave flipping portnoy was previously here and gave such a high rating, that they finally gave in. I was then bitched at for not calling in the order, not my fault I didn’t know you didn’t want anything else.. ANYWAYS, this a good ass pie. I am loving the Roman style pies. Thin crispy crust with positive undercarriage. I love the freshly produce incorporated into this pie. the sauce is sweet but not over powering, The cheese is to die for and perfectly balances everything. They also say there’s a first for everything, such as AuDinnBRUH!u coming in with his first written review on the account. This may just be AuDinns favorite pie in the country. Great flavor. You can tell the tomatoes are fresh. Really good crisp with the edges being charred. Knocking off a little because it was slightly greasy. Overall a solid tasting pie and the store is super cool.
