Pauly's Pizza Joint

Really, really solid “in the 7s” pizza nestled in a strip mall in Miramar. Definitely a Mom and Pop shop with a super friendly staff and owner. While I wouldn’t make a special drive to come get this pizza from a couple hours away, if I lived in Miramar this would be the only pizza I ate. Cheese was as solid as it can get on a NY slice, and dough is on par with an above average pizza shop. Could definitely be crispier, as there was a significant amount of flop and the bottom lacked the char that gives a slice that important tangy-ness. It’s also hard to say if the sauce is made with fresh tomatoes or not, but I suspect not. I would be happy to know that I’m wrong though! All in all a good slice that needs some polishing to be fantastic and a San Diego staple. If you’re passing through, grab a slice, but don’t come from far away to get it.
