I think Portnoy has a lot of credibility , but this is one he just didn’t rate high enough . I am of course referring to the deep dish . The cheese to sauce ratio here is pretty good overall . It is a little on the lighter side though as you will not get a pizza overflowing with cheese or sauce like some of the more tourist places in Chicago . The cheese is and will always be the weak point of the pizza . The sausage that I had was very fresh. But make no mistake - the crust here is just magical . The carmelized slightly burnt crust is what makes Pequods elite among the deep dish pizza game . The thin crust is average so don’t order that here or you will leave disappointed .
