Pete's New Haven Style Apizza

Quick service, nice spot. Went with New Haven style cheese. The pie was a little too greasy, good undercarriage, no flop, sauce missed the mark, but I like a slightly sweet bold sauce. Solid pie. I will be back!

The crust was perfect and carried the 6.5 score the cheese was lacking flavor and the pizza was lacking sause. I tried to get a good taste of the sause but there was so little I could get a good taste. I give the peperoni a 6.7 for the added taste.

Review 104 - First, is it New Haven style? Probably not exactly but they’re trying with the bake. Mine certainly looks more so than the other reviews. This could have been an elite pizza, high 7s or 8s, the crust was chewy and charred, the cheese tasty, but sadly there was a horrific lack of sauce. A real killer, it left this pie dry and without flavor !

Great flavor

The first thing I thought of when I bit into the pizza was wow, that packs some good flavor. There was a very good balance of cheese to ingredients, I would have liked a little more sauce is all I would say on the negative side. I only got a 10 inch pie but there was no flop at all and had a good chew to it. I travel a lot and this is one of the best out of town pies I have had, would come back again for sure.

Crusty, crunchy and delicious! Sauce and cheese were great, but the cornicione and crust were the star.

Disappointed, had high hopes with the score on here…. I don’t think this is New Haven style, the meat pizza we ordered had very little meat. Very expensive, they charge 18% fee for eating inside…not impressed.

Putting “New Haven” and “Apizza” in the name doesn’t make a normal oven pizza New Haven style. There are actual characteristics that make a pizza a certain style, and slapping a name on it doesn’t cut it. Aggressively average for “good pizza”.

This pizza was not cooked in a coal fired oven like traditional New Haven pizza. I will say the pizza was tasty and had a light crispy crust but it’s missing the coal fired char!!! If this same pizza was cooked in a coal oven it would be way better and actually New Haven style. I would eat it again.

Love the crunch and the cheese was delicious. Great taste, not overly greasy; just a really good pie.

Tastes like seafood, but not fishy. Only floppage due to my weak hold, charred undercarriage. If you’re into white clam, about as good as it gets.

Ordered the Tomato Pie and the Cheese. Neither were great. Dough was doughy and there was too much cheese on the Cheese. They cook these in a deck oven and not a coal fire oven. Cannot be called "apizza" without coal fire. Tasted like chain pizza.

It’s not really New Haven Apizza, but it’s pretty good. Little undercooked and they didn’t have any clams. Too many toppings makes it’s soggy.

Best pizza in the DMV, when i saw on maps the name of this place i had to stop. I been to new haven, to rosas in boston and joes in NYC so i know my pie. This pizza had the best taste around. Potential for the 9s if it was a little less flop and grease. Regardless still yet to find a better place in the DMV area.

I am from NY originally and have done multiple one bite reviews. After hearing Dave talk about New Haven Style and how it is the best, I had to try Pete's. Much like Dave, I am pretty discerning about my pizza, especially as a native NYer. I had this delivered, and even like warm, it was the perfect crisp, undercarriage, flavor with zero flop I have ever had! I am blown away. It is worth the trip. Run, do not walk, to try this pizza!
