Pizza Review
I came from a small town in Italy and moved to Brooklyn at 8, so believe me when I tell you I’ve eaten enough pizza in my life to know when something is wrong. This slice is wrong. Everything about it is wrong. The crust is pale, soft, and dead — no crunch, no char, no chew, no backbone, nothing. You pick it up and it folds over itself like it’s ashamed. First bite is awful because the dough has that wet, gummy texture like it was baked in a microwave instead of an oven. Then the sauce hits you and it’s somehow sweet, bland, and stale all at the same time, like somebody opened a can, warmed it up, and called it a day. The cheese is just as bad — greasy, rubbery, and piled on so heavy it smothers the whole slice without bringing one good thing to it. There’s no balance, no care, no understanding of what pizza is supposed to be. This isn’t even bad in an interesting way, it’s bad in a lazy way, which is worse. I’ve had random corner slices at 1 in the morning that had more dignity than this. If you served this back in my town, people wouldn’t even argue about it — they’d just look at you like you lost your mind. Sami, if this is the standard coming out of your kitchen, it’s a tragedy. This pie tastes like somebody gave up halfway through making it and hoped the cheese would cover the evidence. Pizza’s supposed to have life, structure, pride — this has none of it. It’s the kind of slice that makes you wonder if anybody back there even tasted it before letting it out. For a place putting its name on pizza, this should be embarrassing.
