Completely disagree with the scores here. Way too low. I wouldn't even give Celeste's or Elio's a 1.something out of 10. And I’m not a huge fan of frozen pizza. It's just a bit different from an average slice joint.
Sauce and Soda is definitely run by Italians from the mainland, I suspect, they're Sicilians relatively recently immigrated. They’re doing a take on New York style. But it’s not quintessential slice joint pizza, it has a couple other elements going on.
I get what people don’t like though, it’s got a mediumly thin but thicker crust than usual. That said, you can tell it's longer fermented, it's got structure up to the cornicione. And I don’t think that’s a sin. But I’m not a huge fan of it either.
I’m rating the margherita, which looked far better than their regular slice, which I didn’t see at the bottom of the countertop box.
Sauce was a good mix of acidic but leans toward natural sweetness. Cheese isn't that plasticky fresh mozzarella. But the slice should've been in the oven longer. Basil is abundant. Crust was browned pretty good. Chew was moderate for having so much structure to the crust.
