Star Tavern

Good combination of cheeses and sauce makes for a unique, good taste. A little bit too greasy, especially at the end of each slice (almost wet). Solid slice.

A little more crisp on the crust and it would make it 8+. Still incredible though. Perfect cheese and sauce ratio. White clam pizza was great too.

Easily one of the best pizzas in the north Jersey area, Star was tasty and thin but lacked that perfect stiffness, or crunch of some of the similar pies that rate higher. Had the crisp towards the center of the pie been there, I can push this into the 8’s. Definitely worth checking out and also get it well done so you get the “no flop” and crisp you desire.

Knocked off a bucket list place. It was awesome I would go back. Also bought the scampi chicken wings they were incredible.

I’m generally lock in step with Dave on reviews. But I couldn’t disagree with him more on his review, and the score he gave Star. I have to say taste wise this is truly my favorite pizza. They use quality ingredients,it has a tangy sauce. A perfect cheese to sauce ratio. And delicious crust that is thin but not like a cracker. It’s a little bit floppy at times which make my score lower. But all in all it’s truly one of my favorite pizzas and when I’m in the area I grab one.

Finally made it up to Star Tavern in Orange, New Jersey for couple of very good bar pies. Super thin, tasty sauce and perfect crispy bottom crust. 8.1/10

I’ll improve my rating a little . It’s a “bar pie” and it grew on me on 2nd slice. It had very good crisp on the end point

Thin

Not bad, but nothing great.

This is the pizza by which all other pizzas ought to be judged. Whenever I try a new pizza place I ask myself how it compares to Star Tavern. Nothing I have ever tried has topped this, and few places have even come close. The cheese and sauce are both great but what sets this place apart is the crust. This is the ultimate thin crust: perfectly crisp and somehow almost buttery, delicious until the very end. The few downsides of this place are its lack of garlic knots (don't bother trying the garlic bread), the lightness, and the fact it only has one size pie. You'll find the size isn't really an issue, however. It allows you to get the perfect even crispness every time, unlike with other places, where a large can end up soggy. They also have some of the best rootbeer I've ever had. An absolute must-try.

A bit too oily even for pepperoni. Prefer the bigger sized pepperoni to the smaller one. Thin crust was good. Held it's shape well. Good pie but not the best I've had either for the style.

Floppy and underwhelming

Regrade as I got this one with pepperoni. Simple and just plain good bar pie I don’t know what Dave was thinking in giving this low 7s he should have graded this a high 7/low 8s

Not enough crisp for me. Very soupy in the middle and couldn’t hold firmness. Sauce was meh 😒 🍕

Decent bar pie

In my opinion Dave rated this way to low. Very, very good. Do not hesitate to try it!

Not that great of a pie the world famous title is misleading. Unless it’s famous for being the soggiest pizza ever. The sauce was decent so I’ll leave a 5.
