Art's Place

Visiting Sanoma Area and this Italian spot was recommended by a few folks. My expectations were high when I found out they had a wood fire pizza oven. The vibe in the restaurant was good (which helped the score). Photos of “the pasta king,” who I assume is Art, with several Miss California models adorned the walls. He looked like the Hugh Hefner of Sanoma… The pizza was average, slightly below average. I was expecting a crispy thin crust from this hot wood fired oven. It wasn’t. It was extremely floppy and needed to be left in the oven longer. Cheese was good, sauce was a bit tangy and above average, but the undercarriage and crust really disappointed.

I saw the review of 7.8 and that it was a wood fired pizza, so I figured I would give it a shot. The crust was spongy and not at all crispy like a traditional wood fired pizza. One the first couple of bites it took me back to high school cafeteria pizza, the kind of pizza the school gave for free

Nice crispy crust, good balance of toppings, light on sauce. Overall a good pie, give Art’s Place a try.
