☀️MIAMI MUST-TRY ALERT☀️ If you’re looking for New York style pizza in Florida, Eleventh St. Pizza in Miami combines the old school NY style with new age organic ingredients. They even employ the pizza maker from Joe’s on Carmine St. in NYC to give their pies that authentic New York taste. This pie is actually a little fancier than Joe’s and uses all organic ingredients including: 7-year nurtured sourdough, which is naturally leavened and supposed to be healthier, along with high quality organic domestic flour. The dough is very firm & dry, not too thick, crispy throughout, tremendously tasty with top notch char, cooked perfectly. The other ingredients that rest atop are exceptional. The cheese is extremely tight, similar to a bar pie, no ooze or flow but still a terrific blend that balances a cheesy & salty flavor, highlighted by shreds of pecorino romana drawing out even more flavor. The ratio of cheese to sauce is practically perfect, with quality to match the quantity. Using California-grown Bianco di Napoli organic tomatoes, the sauce is sweet & spectacular. Plenty of zip, zing, tang, bang, kick & punch…bursting with flavor, the sauce is the star of the pie filled with All-Star ingredients. A little fresh basil on top gives this pizza some class and a sharp look. The only flaw keeping this from breaking into the 9s is the chewiness of the crust. Once you get past the initial crispness, the crust becomes a chore to chew, so much so my jaw was starting to hurt after my second slice. Other than that, this is some of the best pizza I’ve had in Florida, second to Lucali’s South Beach location. While it’s very pricey pizza, it’s worth it and a must-try travel-worthy spot in Miami if you’re looking for New York style pies in the Sunshine State.
