Modern Apizza

Modern is great for many reasons. The cheese the sauce the bread. But what I love on a New Haven style pie is the charcoal and modern nails that. Modern was also the first New Haven pizza I tried an made me love it even more.

Modern was a great experience. The food was great, the ingredients fresh, and the portions were generous.

Ordered a large pepperoni to be fair to compare three of the pizzas from the New Haven Holy Trinity. Really good through maybe slightly on the greasy side. I enjoyed the crispy but not burnt crust. Had a generally good taste though I like Sally’s better overall. To me Modern is more neck and neck with Frank Pepe of today (I think Frank Pepe was better back in the day)

Modern reigns high supreme for New Haven in my opinion

I mean, it’s one of the all time pizzas. Skip the Italian bomb. Gimmick. Too much grease and it makes the crust soggy. Skip the clam too, they don’t do it as well as Pepe’s and certainly not as well as Zuppardi’s. Otherwise excellent when you keep the toppings simple. Like many of these apizza spots, takeout isn’t appropriate. The box ruins it. Wait is the easiest of the big 3.

Great slice, mozz next time

This was a great pie. The dough was thin, but dense, and had a good crisp. The cheese and sauce were great. We had two pies- plain and one with meatballs and pepperoni. The meatball pie was the best I’ve ever had. The meatballs were thin and had a great little crisp to them. Of the top 3 in New Haven, this is my favorite.

Still the best pizza I’ve ever eaten. Up there by itself. Perfectly well done, best crunch, best cheese, best sauce. Pizza heaven!!

Best pizza in Haven frankie!

Damn you New Haven but this might have been the best pizza I ever had. Each slice was better than the next and the taste stayed in my mouth for a long wonderful time.

Great pie. A bit chewy/dough. Great crust.

Good char and sauce but was a little doughy/chewy for my likings overall good slice. Get the rootbeer

Pepperoni Apizza with Mozzarella Base! Char on point, just enough without being too much. Cheese and sauce pair perfectly! Only down fall, the roni made the whole pie just a bit too salty!

This is my all time favorite pizza! There’s something about the cheese, the sauce and the perfect cook that hits just right every single time. All New Haven Apizza is top tier, but Modern puts it on top for me!
