Being once related to Pizzeria Brandi in Naples Italy (Origin to the birthplace of the Pizza Margherita) and now related to the Staten Island Joe & Pats Pizzeria family...I believe I can rate a pizza pie objectively. I heard the buzz saw the scores and reviews and now understand what fake news and hype is all about. 0.1 because the origins of the folks behind the Sallys came from Italy which is a wonderful thing and that’s a positive! Unfortunately the pizza is terrible, it is served burned, the tomato sauce has no flavor and is bland, the cheese I think it’s supposed to be mozzarella but of the lowest commercial standard. It’s all hype akin to the legend of Paul Bunyon...a story with no underlying truth. I can understand that possibly the fine folks of New Haven had nothing in the way of puzza to eat all these years compared to other nearby cities, nyc, philly, mass, rhode island and therefore this sort of pizza is the holy grail for that neck of the woods. Holy Grail another legend...Sallys Apizza another legend without any basis in truth.

Bucket list spot. Very good pizza. I love a well done pie but maybe this one was a little too well done. The crust has a charcoal taste. Still amazing and it didn’t last long.

Amazing... not mind blowing or maybe as good as the hype but it is amazing. The cheese and flavors aren't as good as Pepe's but the sauce is SPECIAL!

Light, Floppy but still amazingly crunchy. Sauce was insanely flavorful. Could eat 100 slices. 9.4/10

Went to the spot tried out all the pizzas. From New Jersey everyone in line was saying best spot. The plain was by far the best and that was a solid 7. All the other pies were not good we had to grab dinner some where else because we were still hungry. Would not recommend waiting an hour for DECENT pizza.

A fun experience living in CT to say I did. The history and legends of the place were intriguing. The pizza was good, the sauce was the highlight of the pizza for me. I wasn’t completely blown away. The Foxon soda on tap was an unexpected touch. If you are ok with waiting about 1.5 hours for pizza and get the full experience this is for you!

Some of the best tomato sauce and crust I’ve ever had. The char from the coal fire really took the pie to another level.
