Thin Pizza, new haven pizza is worth the hype

Here it is! Sally’s Apizza (ah-beets) this is WITHOUT a doubt, thee best pizza I have ever had. Everything about this pizza is as good as it gets. The crust, super thin… no flop, with a PERFECT char. Flavor explodes from every bite. The amount of sauce used on this pizza is fantastic. It’s present in every bite and is loaded with flavor. The cheese is as good as it can possibly get. Perfect amount of stretch, every bite before the edge crust, has cheese in it. I’m not sure where they get their ingredients from, but they are flawless. The ratios are perfect! Each bite has crisp, sauce, cheese and each bite is as delicious as the last. The presentation of the pizza is a thing of beauty. It comes out on a giant sheet pan, smoking hot, the smell fills the air, even in the outdoor space, mouths are watering before you even hit the table. I’ve been eating pizza my entire life, I travel to try new pizza and it’s a special experience for me each time. There is no pizza experience that I’ve had that is on the same level as Sally’s. John’s of Bleecker is the closest I’ve had and even that near perfect pizza, falls short of Sally’s. Go to New Haven, go to Sally’s and allow yourself to experience the best pizza you’ve ever had. It will not disappoint.

Took way too long coming out so not surprised the crust was overly charred. Clearly left in oven too long. That being said the non-crust portion was phenomenal and would give it another shot at the 9s!

Tomato pie and a “Mootz” at Sally’s. Really, really good pizza. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They took us into the kitchen and let us take some photos of the old coal fired oven. Crust at Sally’s is thin and crispy, with just a little chewy mixed in. Delicious!

Was expecting more. Great tomato flavor. Good crunch. Heavy char but pizza served warm not hot. Probably would try again when they are less busy. Still worth the trip.

Excellent pizza. We ordered the sauce pie and and plain with hot peppers and both had me licking my fingers. I definitely recommend going and it’s not burnt it’s crispy

Delicious thin crust pie. Great crisp and unique flavor to the crust. One of the better pizzas I’ve had. Not my type of sausage for a pizza so would order without next time but scored based on crust/cheese/sauce/texture..not toppings.

Finally made it to Sally’s. I have been to Pepe’s several times. It is a good pizza, but you have to be a sauce lover. Their ratio of sauce to cheese is a bit high. The crust was thin and charred just like a true Apizza should be.

Had to come all the way back from New York to new haven just for this! Definitely up there with one of my favorite pizza spots. Everything from the sweet sauce to the thin crust and the char. Very worth the long travel here! Added some basil on top which definitely made it even better. Delicious!
