Venice Pizza & Trattoria

I’m not sure when the changeover occurred; but the sign out front says “under new management.” So past reviews may be very different from the ratings going forward. Not a bad looking pie, it’s a very traditional, thinner version of football pizza. The texture of the dough is tremendous; fairly firm, nice char on the undercarriage, surprisingly thin with great consistency, decent crisp and a crunchy crust, just boringly bland taste. There is an extremely light smattering of cheese that doesn’t quite cover the entire surface of the pie. The shredded mozzarella blend is disappointingly generic with minimal flavor. Speaking of minimal flavor, the sauce is shockingly tasteless. At first, I thought it was an issue of quantity; but the volume of sauce actually exceeds the amount of cheese. Devoid of any distinguishing flavor, the sauce needs some serious enhancements like garlic powder, crushed red pepper, grated Parmesan, fresh basil…anything to draw some taste out of this lifeless tomato blend. This is about as pedestrian and basic as pizza gets tastewise. The new management appears to be using very different ingredients from the previous regime. The quality texture just isn’t enough to save the overall score from the underwhelming and sadly disappointing lack of flavor.

A very mid pizza. Looked a little scary in the window before it was tenderly thrown in the oven. But it had a pretty good undercarriage, not too much flop. I think my biggest critique is that it wasn’t very flavorful. Also could have had more sauce. Definitely a “gets the job done” slice but probably wouldn’t recommend if I respected you and thought you knew anything about pizza. You’d like this pizza if you watched some guy screaming at his wife from your car in the parking lot. It’s a 5.2 for me.

The pizza here doesn't look like much, but flavor wise it packs a punch. It doesn't beat nearby Broadway Pizza in my opinion, but Dave made a smart move with Venice.

Thin thin thin slice with a great crunch. Lots of flavor. Kids gobbled it up. Not your typical westchester pizza so it really stands out.

Perfectly thin, crispy, and also very flavorful. The pizza was a little oily, but was a definitely a nice change vs the basic football slice.

Thin slice with crisp crust and soft dough. The sauce and the dough tastes phenomenal. It isn’t as good as Johnny’s, but it’s definitely better then Sal’s and Lombardo’s. Dave went a little low on this one. Without a doubt, this is an 8.

Best pizza in white plains hands down! The crust everything about it tastes amazing. Owner is super cool. I just love eating there and hanging out. Arribiatta slice is a must!!!!

I've lived in the area for 26 years, so needless to say I've had every pizza place around. This place has some top notch amazing pizza. Their homemade sauce is some of the best I have ever had. Not just pizza, their chicken parm is in my top 3, rivaled only by Enzo's and F&J Pine in The Bronx. This place is well worth the travel if you aren't from the area, and if you are a local then you already know what's up. The customer service is above all, and that's saying alot considering how good the food is. Julio and staff have treated me like a life long friend every time I order. Easily the best pizza and service in Westchester.

Served in 2 to 3 minutes with a hard North Broadway crisp and no Kensico flop. Sub Score: 6.4 The sauce is decent but a little chunky and thick with good tang and flavor. The mozzarella is decent quality but a tad soupy with mild salinity. The dough recipe was okay but very dense and just bland overall. The undercarriage is over crisped and cardboard like. Sub Score: 6.5 SAUCE: aside from the chunkiness, it is actually pretty decent. If the sauce was thinner with a touch more seasoning this slice could touch the mid 7.0’s MOZZARELLA: either not enough is put on the slice or it’s on the bad side of decent quality. Improve quality and salinity and chew to hit the 7.0’s DOUGH: please start over on the recipe, the dough is either overworked or they’re not using 00 flour. Needs to be cooked less first time around for pies you sell in store. Final score...

1 cheese slice, 1 thin grandmas slice and a bottle of iced tea, 11:45am on a Friday, $10 and change Score is on the cheese slice only Pros: The crust and coastline sauce are great, tastes like an 8. Very thin as well, nice amount of sauce. Overall good taste. Cons: Maybe it's cause I was burning my mouth but I didn't get a ton of flavor early on. Verdict: The thin and crispy crust with sauce right up to the edge was the most memorable part. Grandma's slices scores about the same if not slightly higher. This is an above average pizzeria.

Couldn't believe how big these slices were without any flop. Shit was straight as an arrow. Reminded me of a bar pie with how thin it was with crispy undercarriage. Cheese and the rest of their ingredients were high quality but the sauce could of used more flavor. It was so crispy that the undercarriage flaked when I went for the fold. Crust was also dried out. The specialty slice was alot better but we are here to score the regular slice. Still good pizza.

Did the Gold Standard and a Vodka Chicken Grandma’s style. Freaking great. Great. El Prez this is a sleeper pick for sure!!!

No flop, thin and excellent crunch. Slightly sweet sauce. Great cheese and sauce combination. I can’t believe it has taken me this long to come here.

Best pizza - eat here almost every day. Perfect crust, sauce and cheese. Eat in , plain slice. But also try the speciality slices. Great quality food and excellent service.
